Together Yorkshire 2020

Together Yorkshire was a three part Zoom discussion examining how the Yorkshire Leaders Board and partners can best pursue their remit in the policy areas of Post Covid and Post Brexit Economic Development, Towards Net Zero in Yorkshire and The Yorkshire Visitor Economy and Cultural Industries.

The Yorkshire Leaders Board agreed to support an online seminar in September on the subject of ‘Collaboration- What should be done at a Yorkshire Level?’. The event was also backed by Yorkshire CBI, Yorkshire TUC and Yorkshire Universities.

The event examined how the Yorkshire Leaders Board can in association with other partners (whilst embracing the sub-regional devolution agreements) best pursue their remit in the following three areas of policy:

a) Post Covid and Post Brexit Economic Development.

b) Towards Net Zero in Yorkshire.

c) The Yorkshire Visitor Economy and Cultural Industries.

The aim was to increase awareness of the work of the Yorkshire Leaders Board and to provide an opportunity for all those involved in relevant Yorkshire organisations to consider what more can be effectively done at a county level. The Yorkshire Leaders Board has the potential to be the fulcrum around which a whole range of effective partnerships could thrive. There needs to be a strong collective voice for Yorkshire within the formal and informal institutions of the northern powerhouse to balance the influence of Greater Manchester which has tended to set the pace to date.
